Sen. Ayotte To Host Discussion On Heroin Use In N.H.

Chris Jenson

Senator Kelly Ayotte will host a roundtable discussion later this month that focuses on heroin use in New Hampshire.

The discussion on April 23 in Manchester will include representatives from law enforcement and public health officials.

A former New Hampshire attorney general, Ayotte says heroin use in the state has reached epidemic levels.

A state report released in February found that New Hampshire hospitals reported 45-heroin related deaths last year, up from 14 deaths in 2010.

The report also found that admissions to state-funded programs to treat heroin and prescription drug addicts have nearly doubled in the past decade, with the biggest spike coming last year.
